My Netflix Picks

I have had Netflix for a good few years now and I feel like I have definitely got my money worth for the amount of great shows and films I have watched!  So in this post, I have chosen my top six series on Netflix!

I haven’t written this list in any particular order as I love all these series equally! If you want to see more posts like this then let me know and I’ll get typing!

One of the first series I watched on Netflix was Gossip Girl, I had seen so many people watching and talking about it on Twitter that I had to give it a go! I’m sure a lot of you reading this post have already watched Gossip Girl but for those who haven’t, Gossip Girl follows the lives of privileged teenagers on the upper east side. Serena Van Der Woodsen who is the main character, Blair Waldorf (Serena’s best friend), Nate Archibald (Serena’s boyfriend.. For now), Chuck Bass (My personal favourite!) and finally we have Daniel Humphrey who is a lonely boy from Brooklyn who no one really knows in the beginning. Then you have ‘Gossip Girl’ a blogger who loves to create drama between everyone but her identity is a total mystery. As the series goes on you can’t help but become tangled in these characters lives, it’s truly an emotional rollercoaster but it’s a thrilling ride!

Just like everyone and their Aunts, I was a big fan of Breaking Bad.. I have watched it through twice now and I still love it! I’m not overly keen on the little spin-off Better Call Saul, I don’t know what it is but I just can’t get into it the same. I’m sure you all know the plot.. We follow Walter White who is diagnosed with  inoperable lung cancer, feeling he has nothing to lose he steps into a life of crime cooking meth with former student Jesse Pinkman to support his family when he is gone. As the series goes on the plot thickens and quite frankly.. A lot of shit goes down! There is never a dull moment and thinking about each episode I don’t think there is a single filler!

Of course, I would love this series.. I love anything to do with vampires, werewolves and witches so this was right up my street! We follow the life of Elena Gilbert when she meets and falls for Stefan Salvatore although little did she know he was a 162-year-old vampire. We soon meet Stefan’s brother, Damon Salvatore who also a vampire but unlike Stefan, he is not as kind-hearted.. At the beginning at least! Elena resembles a previous flame of both the brothers, Kathrine Pierce who you guessed it is also a vampire! There’s a continual love tug of war between both brothers for Elena’s heart but who will win? I guess you’ll have to watch and see!

This series was recommended to me by Tobs and I’m so he did! We’re currently waiting impatiently for seasons three and four to be added to Netflix which seems to be taking forever! This series is set in 1919 Birmingham where we follow the gang, Peaky Blinders who are known for sewing a razor blade into the peaks of their caps. The main character, Tommy Shelby is determined to expand his reach although this cannot be done without drawing attention to the gang! Enter the Chief Inspector Major Chester Campbell who has been appointed to ‘clean the city’  of the IRA, communists and gangs. Tommy is smart and has a way of dodging the law which we see a number of times throughout seasons one and two! I honestly cannot wait to watch the other two seasons! Get a move on Netflix!!

This series had me gripped from the first episode! I’ve been eagerly waiting for each episode every week and I haven’t been disappointed by a single episode. The series is based centred around the death of Jason Blossom, the son of one of the most powerful families in the small town of Riverdale. As the whole town investigates the mysterious death and digs up a few dark secrets along the way. Hearts get broken and families fall apart but don’t we all love a bit of drama?

Last and by no means least is The Last Kingdom! If you are a fan of Game of Thrones then I think you will enjoy this too.  We have been thrown back to 872 AD where we follow the life and battles of Uthred who becomes an orphan when his home gets invaded by Danes at a young age, he is taken along with another Saxon girl called Breda to become slaves for the Danes. The two grow up in their new home more like family rather than slaves although all does not end well when once again their lives are turned upside down and a fire causes them to have to run away for safety. As an adult, Uthred has to choose whether he is a Saxon or a Dane and the decision is always a constant battle.

  6. I pretty much watch Gossip Girl on repeat dreaming of New York. I’m also really enjoying The Tudors and Versailles at the moment. Having a bit of a history lesson, with a lot of raunchiness!

    1. I’ll admit I’ve watched it through twice! Tempted to watch it again! I’ve been mean meaning to start The Tudors!

  7. I left Netflix a few years ago and only came back a few months ago. Event though I hate that feeling when a show you really like ends and you’re not sure what to do with your life after that ending. I haven’t given Gossip Girl a watch yet but I might give it a try once I’m finished with American Horror Story <3

    1. That’s how I felt with Breaking Bad.. I was there like “now what?!” 😂 I’m still unsure whether I like Roanoke or not 😕💜
